Some time in late 1999 we decided it was time to go international. Ever since Stephen had set up the Queensberry website in 1994 we’d fielded enquiries from photographers overseas, especially Americans. We’d worked out how we could do business with them, but where to start?
Heather and I decided to book a two-month working holiday — a road trip across the USA and Canada, hoping to convert a few customers. But even if that didn’t work out we’d have some fun, and it would be a chance for Heather to catch up on her Canadian roots in Ontario and Quebec.
This was our first visit to the States barring a few days in the North East in 1980.
